I was asked to make a series of the remarkable Lithuanian people living in the Netherlands named "Here we Are"
Lithuanian people as a nation are conservative and for this project I had to find a way to make a portrait which would describe their ocupation but at the same time would be funny and not "conservative".
The project was organized by Lithuanian community in a cooperation with the Embassy of Lithuania.
Polyglot. Working as a translator interpretator in a court. Real lady, was a bit heard to convince her to out magnifying glass by her eyes, but then I entered her house it was the only attribute which she uses on a daily basis, describes her occupation and makes her portrait look less formal and less conservative
Was nominated with a queen cross. Involved in a charity activities and is a business woman, which at the same is a great mother and has a very soft feminine look. I decided to photograph her outside, with the rose, it shows her strength and femininity as well.
Jurate is working as a conductor, so I decide to make her conduct for a street artists.
Hard to describe her occupation, involved in various activities and organisations. Her motto is "A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open" so I decided to use umbrella to describe her, her mind openness and different directions she is working on.
A former principal dancer with the Lithuanian National Ballet and Het Nationale Ballet in the Netherlands. She is not dancing anymore, she lives in Amsterdam and has a child now. I wanted to show her dancing in the town ,for the town, in her own little scene of life.
Physiotherapist, main tool - hands. Made them big and remarkable. I had no studio, so we had a shoot in a dressing room C&A shop.
